WENDY TURNBULL

Affectionately known as the "Rabbit", Wendy's singles ranking peaked at No 3 in the world behind Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert, winning 13 singles titles and 55 doubles titles during her career.

She was ranked in the top 10 in the world from 1977-1985 and reached the singles finals of the US Open, the French Open, and the Australian Open. She won 9 Grand Slam Ladies Doubles and Mixed Doubles Championships at the US Open, the French Open and Wimbledon. In the 1988 Seoul Olympics she represented Australia and captured a Bronze Medal in the Ladies Doubles.

In Fed Cup she played for Australia for 12 years and captained the team for 9 years. Wendy was honored by Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace with an award as a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, and has been honored with a park dedicated to her in her hometown, Sandgate, Australia.

Wendy's sophistication and knowledge of tennis have made her an ideal television personality and commentator. She has worked with Channel 7 in Australia and currently commentates at Wimbledon and the US Open for BBC Radio. Wendy is actively involved in the promotion of her sport. She attends corporate functions and participates in various charitable exhibitions and events. She also served on the Fed Cup Committee and the Olympic Tennis Committee for the International Tennis Federation for several years.
