Curtis Conway
Curtis Lamont Conway was born on January 13th, 1971 in Los Angeles, CA.
After an All-American college career at USC as a wide receiver, Conway
was drafted with the 7th pick overall in the 1993 NFL Draft. Conway had
a tremendous twelve-year career in the National Football League, playing
for the Chicago Bears, San Diego Chargers, New York Jets and San Francisco
49ers, racking up 3 seasons with over 1,000 yards. Conway’s 329
catches during his tenure with the Bears (1993-1999) place him 3rd in
franchise history on their all-time receptions list, and his 4,498 receiving
yards rank 5th on the Bears’ all-time yardage list.
Conway attended Hawthorne High School (Hawthorne, CA) and was an All-American
quarterback, and a track star. Even though he was an All-American football
player, he was more known for his exploits on the track. He qualified
for California State Championships as a sophomore, junior and senior,
and at the end of his senior year he won the state championship in the
100m. He also anchored, at that time, the California state record-setting
4x100m team (40.24). Before attending USC, Conway played football at El
Camino Junior College in Torrance, CA.
After retiring from football, Conway began a sports broadcasting career.
He has been a recurring guest on ESPN’s popular television show
“Jim Rome Is Burning”. In 2006, Conway joined the cast of
ESPN Radio in Los Angeles as a co-host for their “Trojan Chat Room”
show, which covers USC Football.
On July 22nd, 2007, Conway married world champion athlete Laila Ali. The
couple resides in Southern California.
